When system low battery kept coming up on my keypad, I called the alarm company we use and was told that the keypad we use was so old (5 years) that they no longer even make batteries for it! Inexpensive, and worked as a functional replacement for the original battery in the Simon Security keypad. You will need to reset the battery sensor in the Simon Keypad, otherwise the keypad will continue to show there is still a low battery condition. The shipment packaging could be better, although my battery arrived with no issues, the padded USPS mailing envelope may not be sufficient protection for other shipments.

I’ve purchased this battery to replace the backup in my GE home alarm panel three times. The first two were perfect. However, the most recent battery was slightly taller than the first two. There was only about 1/16th of an inch difference but it actually makes a huge difference. The first two fit perfectly so the slight difference in this one was substantial when trying to get it to fit. I was able to wedge it in but you can see the plastic of the panel bulging slightly. The battery works great but the fit will make me look elsewhere in the future

My original battery started flagging low voltage after only two years. I found replacement batteries on the website of the original equipment and also here. The price for this battery was significantly cheaper than what was offered on the original equipment website. The battery is an exact duplicate other than the name printed on it. I installed a Simon XT several years ago, and it has worked trouble-free for years. However, I started getting phone-calls from it every night at 11pm telling me the battery was low. At first I thought it was one of the wireless sensors, but no, it was the lead-acid battery in the main unit. This fits, same voltage and amperage as the old one. Installed this, still got the warning the first night, but that’s because the battery wasn’t fully charged yet. Now it is, and it just works. If there are longevity issues, I will update the review, but so far, so good.

So far so good but we have only had it in for a few days. So far it is much better than paying for the alarm company or a repair man to come and we have to pay the fee just for them to head out just to find out what’s wrong with it. Then the battery would have cost a small fortune. Happy with it right now. Easy to put in. Just be sure you call your alarm company and tell them that you are putting in a new battery so they don’t get all kinds of signals such as a medic alert, like we did. 🙂
