It’s a battery. The biggest problem is taking the gas tank off my generator to access the four bolts holding the battery box – what a PITA! The generator has a built-in trickle charger so it should stay ready for action. Generator starts with one pull so it was not a big deal but it makes it easier for my wife to start it when I am not around.

This battery is a replacement for the factory original unit that came with our 2006 Generac portable generator with electric start. The flanges in the housing of this battery match perfectly as to where the original one fit, and the screw terminals line up where they are supposed to. Before installing, I gave this battery a charge with an external analyzer-type unit, to confirm capacity and state of charge. It took a while to bring the battery up to full strength, which is NOT unusual for a battery that has been on the shelf for a few months. It came up fine, and I feel better knowing that the low powered trickle charger that came with the generator did not have to struggle to top off the battery. Recommended.
