The battery does not hold a charge. I start the mower manually and each time I stop mowing to empty the bag, the electric start works great. After shutting down the mower and waiting for next cutting, the battery will not start the mower.

I don’t have the Honda approved battery charger to give the battery it’s initial charge. But once having worked as an auto mechanic I was able to check the charge. My meter told me it had a 95% charge as delivered. So, I installed it and it worked first time out of the box. Same fit as battery that came from Honda.To install: Remove cover (three phillips head screws), pull off a plug, put plug on new battery, replace cover. No other tools, obviously very minimal skill involved.Will update if I have a problem, but so far I’m happy.

when it arrived it had no charge. A normal battery charger one might have for other batteries such as for a car,boat, atv, ect. can not be used do to it requiring a very low and slow charge. And a charger you may have for say a cell phone, small tool, or and non heavy duty rechargeable item cant be used as well. So very inconvenient for it to arrive with no charge. And as anyone that knows anything about that style of battery any time it is drained puts heavy strain on the cell plates and damage is done taking a good amount of life from the batttery and reducing performance as well.

I won’t tell you what the service company wanted for the battery — the battery alone, mind you, not including installation. Frankly, it was obscene. I found the same one here — several, in fact, with minor discrepancies in size. Well, maybe not so minor seeing how the compartment this battery has to fit into doesn’t have the spare room to shove the tip of a toothpick into it. V-E-R-Y close tolerances. Well, this one fits and it does the job just like the original. I’m happy that mom gets to stay in assisted living instead of having to go where they dispense the meds for her. Win-win!!!

Battery is well made and the packaging was good. I charged the attery and it has held the charge. I bought this as a backup for my Honda mower. I haven’t had a chance to try it in the mower yet, but feel it should be berrer or as good as the original.
