It arrived on time, and in good condition. A couple clucks: (a) The + terminal was bent inward slightly – didn’t seem like shipping damage, but can’t be sure, since there was no obvious bash indentation on the shipping box. (b) The bolt holes in the terminals were slightly undersized on one side, so the bolts wouldn’t easily slide through. I just enlarged them a bit with a drill. I’m guessing that if one were to simply start turning the bolts clockwise into the terminal holes the soft lead would allow penetration and eventual stripping out of the excess lead, and successful mounting of the cables. Although the battery already had a good charge, as measured with my multimeter, I topped it up anyway with a smart charger. In my case, I’m using it to start an old 500cc Briggs & Stratton engine on a Lincoln welding machine. I recently finished a week-long welding project, which involved LOTS of stopping & starting, and the battery never showed any indication of weakening. The carry handle is a nice touch. As with any battery, you have to withhold final judgement until a couple years have gone by to see if performance drops off prematurely. And, to be fair and valid, any long-term evaluation should only be offered if the battery has been kept charged by regular use in equipment with properly functioning charging technology, or kept on one of the newer generation smart chargers that keep the battery at a steady float voltage (ie., not overcharged) between uses. Actually, I’d give this battery a 4.75 star rating, my only reservations being the issues with the terminals, and it being too early to judge its long-term reliability.

First off, for an item like this, I prefer to shop locally but Sears no longer has any stores nearby that sell batteries. After 13 years, the original battery in my John Deere L110 finally died. This replacement battery arrived fully charged and was ready for use immediately. As with the original battery, I leave it on a smart charger when the tractor isn’t in use for more than a day or two. Replacing the original battery required no more than a few turns of the wrench, pulling the old battery out, and dropping the new one into place. Installed this battery on a Husqvarna 54 inch Garden Tractor with 24 HP Kawasaki V-twin. Battery has twice the power of the stock battery when it was new. The Kawasaki FR 730 V-twins had some issues with hard starting after the engine was shut down when hot. With this battery the engine starts up without flooding or smoke…even when you turn the engine off with the throttle at wide open position.With the engine spinning 50% faster and more power to the ignition as a result the engine has no choice but to crank up quickly. I recommend getting one of these batteries to replace the cheap inadequate batteries that come on many riding mowers today, especially the larger V-twins.

So far so good. Replaced original battery in a John Deere LA105 model tractor (42 deck, Briggs and Stratton 19.5 hp engine). Tractor cranks fast every time and seems to crank a little stronger too. Time will tell if this battery holds up, but so far it’s working great. For this particular model of tractor the battery for perfect and the terminals are located in the correct position same as the stock one.

I’m being nice here with three stars. This is because it came on time in good condition and fit the space it should have. I have not had it long enough to determine it’s life. It seems to be well built but my issue is that I have a 25 hp Kohler engine on my rider and it will not turn it over. It could be my fault because maybe I should have bought a different battery but didn’t give cold cranking amp information on the battery. Needless to say, I wasted the money I spent. I only have a couple more cuttings before the season ends and I’m looking for a battery with the same dimensions but more starting power. I’m disappointed in myself for pulling the trigger on this one. I should have researched longer. The last battery I had was advertised to provide 360 cold cranking amps. This one definitely provides less than my last one.

After one year of owning a cub cadet xt1 enduro with 22 hp kholer engine , my tractor wouldn’t start after it gets warm. It cranks but never starts unless i let it cool down or jump started .i suspected the battery and decide to give the mighty max a shot before taking the tractor to the dealer . I ordered this sealed AGM battery as a replacement for my Back-Up Generator Battery becaused it matched in size and exceeded the specs. I was unable to find a close match anywhere within an hours drive from my home….and most of the on-line sites charged for shipping. Since it is sealed… shipped it for free. Price was better than most others I researched. It has been installed and the generator fires up instantly from cold-crank. Service was fast and packaged well. I am extremely satisfied. (unfortunately I said too many nice things…So the algorithm will probably kick this out as a suspected paid review) If it does…this will be my last review)

Very Heavy Battery, costs more then the Lightweight ones, but has much more POWER. To power your Yard Equipment this is a very solid Battery, ships quickly. My Original JD battery died after 7 Months (4 months of inactivity), warrantee was only 6 months, so I purchased a DECENT Battery to replace the Toy-Battery JD ships with their Equipment. In an effort to make money JD now uses Sub-standard Batteries (IMHO). Got new yard Equipment-get one of these or be left without.

I replaced the original battery on my Airens 46 mower (new in 2012) and immediately noticed the difference in weight. This sucker is heavy. I wouldn’t say twice as heavy as the original but close. Being an AGM battery it should last much longer than the original since vibration is not as big a concern now. Can’t say much more. Started the mower with 1/2 second of cranking after it had sat for two weeks. Good by me. Enjoy!

I have not had it long enough to tell how long it will last. However I had to force it into the space provided for the battery. It was suppose to fit a John Deere LA125 and it took some pushing to get it in the spot. I don’t know how hard it will be to get it back out.

What a great product. I used this for my Ariens lawn tractor 25hp 54inch deck I bought in 2011. It called for a 28 amp hour 230 minimum cold crank amp. The battery I bought 2 years ago at the local auto store brand new had trouble right from the start starting my mower. I wondered if maybe the starter was going on it because on occasion it would have so much trouble starting it would drain the battery and I would need to jump it or charge it. I even on multiple occasions changed all my filters (gas, air, oil) as well as plugs to see if that would help, not one bit. Then I was talking to my friend who owns his own airplane. He suggested getting a glass mat battery because that is what he uses and trusts in his plane and are very reliable. So I seared for days for a compatible glass mat battery. Living in Vermont you really have to consider the extreme cold and as my friend told me he felt glass mat was the way to go even in these conditions. I cold find on glass mat batteries the amp hours but could never find cold crank amps. I tried emailing a couple of companies to find the cold crank amp info but never received a response. Finally I put the question out to the community and received a response from someone in NH saying they have not experienced any problems what so ever in the cold climate. I pulled the trigger and made the purchase. I am amazed. I have used my lawn tractor a bunch of times since I installed it and not one time has it had trouble turning over or starting. There goes my speculation of a bad starter or filter or plugs. I am sold never will I cheap out again and buy an inferior battery. Do yourself a favor and buy a glass mat in particular a Mighty Max (what a great name), that’s what caught my eye. At the same time it only took a couple of days to get here so I didn’t have to wait long between mows.

I have a John Deere Model L110 Riding Mower(17.5 HP). I had measured the battery cutout roughly and decided that this battery would fit; fortunately it was a perfect fit. I just installed this battery yesterday and it was a perfect drop in fit. All I had to do was disconnect the two battery terminals and the old battery lifted right out and the new battery dropped right in; it couldn’t have taken me more than 15 minutes to change out the battery. The engine startd on the first try.I’ve given the battery a 4 star rating for its ease of installation and quick start up. I will come back after some usage and give an update.

Update. It died in Srpring 2018. Most likely my fault as I did not take it out and chargethe battery during the winter. Ordered another and again…So far so good. Fits a Sears GT tractor, same dimensions as the original battery. Cannot address battery longevity as have not had it in use long enough. Liked that it could be shipped and arrived in a timely manner well packaged.

My brand spankin’ new Sears Pro Series lawn tractor has been plagued from Day One with a faulty magnetic / electric blade clutch action. An InterWeb search shows this to be a COMMON PROBLEM.I got the tractor set up and it mowed for exactly 1 minute, then the blade clutch disengaged. After warming up, the clutch would not stay engaged for more than a fraction of a second.The lawn tractor is made by MTD, and the DieHard battery in the tractor is really an MTD battery. Apparently, the MTD batteries work for anywhere between 2 weeks and 2 years or so I was told.I found out that without a stout, well-charged battery, the electric blade clutch will not remain engaged, because it works off of the tractor’s electric PTO (power takeoff). So on a hunch, I purchased THIS BATTERY on , and it came earlier today.THIS BATTERY WEIGHS ABOUT THREE TIMES as much the DieHard battery that came with the tractor. IT WEIGHS NEARLY AS MUCH AS A SMALL CAR BATTERY. The only way this can be the case is if the battery has many times more lead plate surface area inside, which translates into more power generation capability.It also survived being shipped in a Priority mailer box with no significant packaging. THIS BATTERY IS TOUGH.Once installed and the tractor started with THIS BATTERY I was able to mow quite an awful lot of low, medium, and high, dense grass without a problem. THIS BATTERY APPEARS TO HAVE CURED THE CLUTCH PROBLEM.I could not be happier unless the battery would drive the tractor and more the grass for me.The MTD DieHard battery seems to be the result of letting the Accounting Dept. do mechanical design, with the results being fairly predictable.

Can’t really say about the durability of this battery because it is only a week old, but I want to add that it definitely fits an LT180 JD Riding Mower. The Mighty Max company does not have a way to cross reference tractor models, so it takes awhile to determine if this particular battery will fit your specific mower. The JD part number is: TY25878

I’ve only had this a few weeks, but initial performance is strong. This replaces a bigger, 500 c.c.a. battery, but it seems to be plenty for a 345 Deere lawn tractor, despite its smaller size. Also, over the winter I won’t have to remove cell caps to top off the charge, and I’ve read that the gel mat batteries discharge more slowly and are more tolerant of deep discharge than conventional lead batteries–both pluses for winter storage. Finally, this was about $50 cheaper than the Deere replacement battery. So I’m pretty happy. Note: for my application, I had to get adapters to make this battery’s L-type posts fit my round-post cables. (available here: […] — and elsewhere, and seem to work well)

Battery worked great! The description gives the height of the battery as 7.13 which is correct but it includes the battery posts in that measurement. The actual dimensions of the battery box itself are 7 1/2 W x 5 D x 6 H. It fit my Craftsman 28853 Lawn Tractor perfectly. The + & – Posts are on the opposite side on my original Die Hard.
