Works for MTD and Yard Machines riding mowers. These legacy mowers are ubiquitous and a dime a dozen. I pick them up for $120 or less, long after them being ridden hard and used up. Then, I try to breathe new life in them because free is better than cheap. As much as I would like a gel pack battery, this is the happy medium. The lead acid batteries have plates in them, and after being jostled around some on the uneven land that I call a lawn, rife with gopher holes, glacier stones, and only a cursory Caterpillar driver over it sometime in the 1920’s, the AGM (glass pack) battery which could crank over a small ATV, works to get my small 4 cylinder engine going when I need it and keep it going strong on the less than quarter acre. Unlike the lead acid batteries, I haven’t had the glass pack batteries give up the ghost quickly, and last more than a season. I try to keep these machines going, reverse engineering and over-engineering, and this is step 1 in that I need something to keep cranking and cranking, even more so when I forget to turn the gas valve on. After I get them up and going, this works when I find that tires are low, or needing some deck work and new belts; let alone electronic switches that may or may not work when you get up from the seat or switch into reverse.. So, if you have a unit all good to go and just need a replacement, here you go. If you are trying to reinvent the wheel, this is a higher budget thing to make due.
