It takes a recharge and keeps the vacuum ready to be used again. it also lasts a long time in the vacuum before needing to be recharged. Very pleased and the price paid is reasonable. Usually I get about 4 years with one of these batteries in this vacuum before needing a new battery. I expect this one to last that long also.

Have not had long enough to judge fully but all six came and work as advertised. My one complaint is that I wanted to order the 6 pack for the good rate but the shipping of the six pack was advertised as at least 2 weeks delivery time. I needed them ASAP so I ordered six individually. They came quickly in six separate boxes, but all of them neatly fit in one box. Needed a 6v rechargeable battery to replace in a hand tool that an oem replacement was not available. required some creativity in order to mate the battery to the tool, but the compact size of this battery allowed for an easy solution. After making sure this new battery was fully charged before first trying it out, I was surprised to find that the power, and duration of the charge far exceeded what was originally installed on this particular cordless garden tool . Considering the price-point,, this purchase saved me a much costlier experience if I would have simply replaced the entire tool……….This has breathed new life into a tool I have relied on for years.
